DC Couriers

Shared to me through the CXHairs Tumblr, here's a video of the life and times of a handful of messengers in DC.

Bruce is something else.  He's been happily married for 20 years, drives his Prius into the city everyday to deliver packages on his bicycle, and is substantially faster than most guys half his age, including other messengers.

I might dog on the whole messenger scene pretty hard sometimes (all in good fun), but I met a handful of awesome dudes in DC who have been living that life for years.  I'm sure some of my resentment stems from jealousy.  Who wouldn't want to ride their bike all day as a profession?  To hell with a 401k and health insurance, right?

Fat Tire Fest - Wilson Lake, KS

Apparently Wilson Lake, KS has some of the best trails in the midwest, many of them resembling trails you would see in Fruita or Moab.  Who knew?

So we're gonna camp and shred the trails at a reasonable pace.  Vanessa just scored a new mountain bike too, and she's itchin' to put miles on it.

Check out this thread on the EarthRiders forum, which has some great pictures by Adrenaline Images.  Dude took some awesome photos.

Did I mention we live in Kansas City again?  No?  We live in Kansas City again.

Courier Cross

Check out more details (route, prizes, etc) at the Courier CX Tumblr.  Kev and I pre-rode the course yesterday and it was pretty nuts, especially the GW Parkway crossings.  Here's to hoping for less traffic on Sunday!

This Sunday @ 3pm @ Red Derby.  The forecast is calling for rain, which will only add to the awesome.

Fack

Bike polo strikes again.  Fracture and chipped bone, 2 months off the bike.  I even had lacrosse gloves on!  My guess is the hand got sandwiched between a handlebar end and the wall.

Still not as bad as this.  Still going to this.

East Side Polo Invite

Sweet poster!  Click it to check out the official ESPI 6 blog.  Teams are assembled and DC will be there with at least 3 teams, hopefully more.
